Letter #10: 02.17.13

Aloha Mommy,

So I keep forgetting to tell you that Elder Oak's son is in my stake. So for ward council meeting, Elder Oak's son is in for the meeting and I talked to him and I told him that I know his mom and dad and talked about you. He served in Japan too. Well I see him every Sunday. Today at church, I had to speak in Relief Society on chapter 4 of Lorenzo Snow. Me and my comp were only asked last night if we could teach...hahaha. Everyone told us that they loved our lesson and my stories.

So today at our Bishop's meeting, we asked if we could teach a hula class for the YW/Ward to bring friends so we can get investigators and to strengthen the girls. It's going to be once a week. We got the okay from the bishop and that's also why we need you to send the CD with hula/Tahitian songs.

Well so we did not move into our apartment yet. They keep on pushing it back. Something went wrong with the check that the church wrote out and it's a new elderly couple that's doing it now. So we'll be moving next week they said, but they changed the date about four times so far...haha :)

Well, just on Friday, we did so much work. It's so cool to see how the Lord works. We got about four new investigators when we were checking out the LA. One of the stories of the new investigator is when we went to try and see a LA. She called us over to see if she could use our phone to call a friend. We let her and we started talking and said we were from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when she was on the phone. Her name is Natalia but likes to be called Phat Phat. She is homeless and 25. She has a son that's 8. She is trying to go to college to better her life. So her son lives at his grandma's house and she only can see him on the weekends. So she was looking for a church so she can take her son to it on Sunday so they can have that bond. His grandma takes him to the baptist church, but Phat Phat was saying that she wants him to be in a class with kids his age to understand the gospel. So we were teaching her about the Book of Mormon on her friend's steps. She told us that she was happy to see us cause she prayed for someone to come. She was feeling down and never ate yet and does not know where she was going to sleep yet. Everyday she just goes by a friend's house to see if she can spend the night then goes to school and does her homework and takes it one day at a time. She ended up crying and we helped her and gave her the Book of Mormon. So that's just one of my stories. But that day was a great day all day long. We met up with most of the LA and got new investigators and when we went, finding was so good. Our numbers were high for that day.

Tell Jarom, Timbre and Baby Li-Ke thank you for the Valentines. Tell everyone I love them and miss them so much. Let everyone in the ward know how I'm doing and thank them for all of their hard work with me. You can tell them some of my stories on Fast Sunday. You got to let know if any of the Elders that were on my SD card, the four that were going to Hawaii, if they end up in our ward. They should be in Hawaii by now. Feed them!!!

There is one old lady in our ward here in Skyline and she is in a care home but she loves the sister missionaries and every time they know of new ones coming in, she's like, "I hope we do not get any Elders"...LOL. She has all of the American Girls dolls and she has the one from Hawaii. The first Sunday she brought her to church and the doll's name is Kanani. I took a pic of me and her when we went over for dinner in her care home. But it's in this SD card. She loves Hawaii so she was happy when she found out there was going to be a sister from Hawaii.

So today is P-Day and Pres. called us to play Lazer Tag. But before we went as a district tot he mall. It was so much fun and I never got anything. And with 3 of us districts we played lazer tag with pres. So Sister Wever should be putting pix on the blog. So today is a holiday so the library was closed today so tomorrow we will be emailing you guys. It's cool all of us are starting to get closer and used to my district with my Elders and Sisters. We are just now being funnier with each other and joke around a lot. So I have a funny pic with one of my Elders. They all are my brothers...hahaha. So I'm going on an exchange for 24 hours. So it's going to be half a day and for the next half. And we have to walk the whole day. It's the day of the month that you walk to save miles. We only get 900 miles for Skyline.

Something funny, the Elders call us and put us in their phone as "skyisland sisters." P-Days go by so fast. Well the week goes by so fast too. I have 2 baptisms up this Saturday...yes yes yes. You know Tacoma is known for their baptisms...WA-TAC. If you ask Brother Potter, he would say he served by Tacoma. The missionaries in Spokane/Seattle all tell everyone they served close to Tacoma because we high on baptisms. So that is so cool that I'm serving in Skyline Tacoma. Now other missions are starting to do CT.

Thank you mommy for teaching me everything to do. Thank you for teaching me how to cook/clean, to change my attitude, wash my clothes, everything you do for me in my life. It's you the one that got me ready for this big part of my life, my mission. I know I have to be here on my mission in Tacoma. I know by giving this small part of my life to the Lord to serve him 24 hr for 18 months is the least I can do for what my Heavenly Father and older brother, Jesus Christ had to do. I love you and miss you. Oh my comp said Hi and I'm sorry that we could not email today.

<3 Always, much Love and Aloha,
your baby missionary Sister Kawehinanioku'uhomekai'inimainalani Aiko Kaohiai Casey

P.S. Can you write out the stories about my name or what my name means in detail. I just know the summary and I get asked it everyday. Thank you <3.

Letter #9: Skyline WA-TAC 02.11.13

ALOHA,

Tell Brian I'm so happy for him and he is going to love it so much and tell him  to love every place that he serves the same.  Tell Na'u and Lucas Hi for me and I will see them when I get back.  Our mission pres. is the best. Tomorrow we have a mission fireside and the talk "LOCK YOUR HEART" by Spencer W. Kimball from 1968. We had to read it before, it is so good.  One of my new favorite scriptures is Colossians 4:6- "Let your aspeech be alway with grace, seasoned with bsalt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man."
I did get your box. Thank you so much I loved it. Is the valentines candy all for me or is it to give out??? Can you send me my brown blanket (the new one)?  Can you also make a CD of hula and tahitian songs for me and send it?  That's going to be our workout songs in the morning.  I would love some macnut chocolate and the shells.
I have 2 baptisms on FEB 23 and I also have 2 in MAR.  I'm so happy for them.  The families are so great and just on Sunday we just got a new investigator. He thought our church was the christian church but now he wants us to teach him more.  When we went finding we found a girl in her 20s and she said we were an answer to her prayers and she wants to change and go to church. She is not a member or even knew any members but she just got out of a bad relationship.  Also on Sunday us missionaries put on a musical fireside for the stake. It was so good and the spirit was there. Everyone was crying.  I love you guys so much and I miss you so much.
Oh can you send me more photos of everyone in the family and my friends so I can put them up on my wall? I do have a car. You should have a photo of me on the SD card in a white car. That's ours. In this next sd card, I took a lot of video. I will send it when you send my other one back to me. My comp is from Tonga.
Love, Sister Casey

We should be getting our new apartment today. We got the keys....yes yes yes. I miss mommy's food so much.  Some times when we eat at a members house its a lot different but you know an island girl eats anything...lol. My comp cannot cook at all so im cooking a lot.  Thank you mommy for teaching me how to cook.

much love and aloha

My address is the one that mommy has for the mission offices.  I/m living with a member now but soon we will be moving to an apartment.  I love the WA-TAC and the people. How is my best friend (MOMMY)? Oh mommy and papa you know the Tongan I told you about in the airport well he is my comp cousin, so I told her the story and showed her the pics of us and then she lol and told me that's her cuz. I think that's so funny and he does not even know.  Oh and a different Tongan just asked me today if I will marry him.. I told him I will think about it and he is like well you have 2 years to think...hahaha.  I love you all and I have to go. I'll write you next week.
