Letter #12: 2.28.13
Aloha my best friend,
So I was thinking of a best and fun way to write you this week. For everyday that something happens to me, or something fun happens, I can fast kind write it down. I will # it too...haha:) So this past week I forgot to tell you I...
had, or ate, cat fish for lunch...It was so good :). Just yesterday on Wednesday, you know the family that the boys got baptized on Saturday, well the family celebrated by going to a rollerblading rink and we went. It was so much fun...but I fell down really hard. Only once, but my butt is hurting so bad now...hahaha:).
Today is my first walking day...ALL DAY...We have a walking day once a month to save on our miles on our car. And its the last day of the month. So everyone on the mission is walking or busing or biking it today. I'll let you know how it goes...Love you so much and miss you my friend. Have fun reading it...
So it was the park day that is when we walk, bus or bike it all day. It was so much fun. We walked all day and the first appointment was on the opposite end of our boundaries. Then we had to walk back to see families...we walked so much today. Oh yeah and it was raining all along and we are a little sick...but it was all good. It was my first Park day.
So transfers are coming up this Tuesday and I'm staying with my comp here in Skyline cuz she dies {goes home} next transfer meeting. So I think I'm going to be here in Skyline for at least 3 transfers, this one, next, and the next cuz I will have to show around. So I will give you my apartment address, but the office address is good too for my family and friends.
But you can send me letters to my apartment address. I love it. I had some miracle with families in the ward that are LARC. And we got to meet with them and have plans to meet up and do a lesson with them another time. It is our stake conference this Sunday and on Saturday...
I was asked to dance the hula for a ward cultural thing, but it is not our ward, its for some other sisters in our zone that asked us to help them out. And we are going to dance this Saturday. This is fun to read...LOL.
So yeah, I gave you the address to my apartment so right now I'm playing soccer ball with the missionaries. It's a lot of sun. How is everything there back at home? So I had so much fun writing this for you :)
{Sister Casey's latest letter came on 8 star shaped post-it notes. Each paragraph was a star. She really must have had a fun time writing it and imagining us trying to read it.}

Letter #11: 2.25.13
Aloha Ohana,
I'm doing so good and I love you all and miss you all. I'm loving my mission so much. So yeah, what I had said in the email is that we are getting 2 new missions made out of Tacoma. That just says how much the mission is growing. The time is going by so much. So yeah, we are in our new apartment. I get the box with the songs in it. So do you want me to make a copy of the songs so you will have it? Thank you for all the goodies and thank you Helam for the books and the drawings. I love it so much Helam. Everyone is like, well most of the elders say, "You have another box. You are loved"...haha. So yeah. Did I tell you that my mission pres. got an email from the 1st presidency saying that you are going to start getting missionaries randomly, not only on transfers. That's just saying how big the mission is getting. Mommy, what is the name of the mission that Ira served in in Korea? There is a lady that is Korean. Can you type out the story of my name...Thank you :). So thank you for the hula song. SO now we can start hula classes. Yeah, the way you guys did the english class in Japan is the same idea. Can you ask Lana to send me Tahitian songs and beats also on a CD? Some o the missionaries want to learn Tahitian and hula. That will be good...THANK YOU :). Tell Aunty Marv thank you, I got the package. I miss my little class with the kids. Tell everyone in the ward I miss them and love them all. I love you all. I'm doing the Lord's work.
<3 always, Much love and Aloha,
Sister Casey, your baby girls <3
~Tell all the kids I love them very very much and miss them all more.

Letter #10: 02.17.13
Aloha Mommy,
So I keep forgetting to tell you that Elder Oak's son is in my stake. So for ward council meeting, Elder Oak's son is in for the meeting and I talked to him and I told him that I know his mom and dad and talked about you. He served in Japan too. Well I see him every Sunday. Today at church, I had to speak in Relief Society on chapter 4 of Lorenzo Snow. Me and my comp were only asked last night if we could teach...hahaha. Everyone told us that they loved our lesson and my stories.
So today at our Bishop's meeting, we asked if we could teach a hula class for the YW/Ward to bring friends so we can get investigators and to strengthen the girls. It's going to be once a week. We got the okay from the bishop and that's also why we need you to send the CD with hula/Tahitian songs.
Well so we did not move into our apartment yet. They keep on pushing it back. Something went wrong with the check that the church wrote out and it's a new elderly couple that's doing it now. So we'll be moving next week they said, but they changed the date about four times so far...haha :)
Well, just on Friday, we did so much work. It's so cool to see how the Lord works. We got about four new investigators when we were checking out the LA. One of the stories of the new investigator is when we went to try and see a LA. She called us over to see if she could use our phone to call a friend. We let her and we started talking and said we were from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when she was on the phone. Her name is Natalia but likes to be called Phat Phat. She is homeless and 25. She has a son that's 8. She is trying to go to college to better her life. So her son lives at his grandma's house and she only can see him on the weekends. So she was looking for a church so she can take her son to it on Sunday so they can have that bond. His grandma takes him to the baptist church, but Phat Phat was saying that she wants him to be in a class with kids his age to understand the gospel. So we were teaching her about the Book of Mormon on her friend's steps. She told us that she was happy to see us cause she prayed for someone to come. She was feeling down and never ate yet and does not know where she was going to sleep yet. Everyday she just goes by a friend's house to see if she can spend the night then goes to school and does her homework and takes it one day at a time. She ended up crying and we helped her and gave her the Book of Mormon. So that's just one of my stories. But that day was a great day all day long. We met up with most of the LA and got new investigators and when we went, finding was so good. Our numbers were high for that day.
Tell Jarom, Timbre and Baby Li-Ke thank you for the Valentines. Tell everyone I love them and miss them so much. Let everyone in the ward know how I'm doing and thank them for all of their hard work with me. You can tell them some of my stories on Fast Sunday. You got to let know if any of the Elders that were on my SD card, the four that were going to Hawaii, if they end up in our ward. They should be in Hawaii by now. Feed them!!!
There is one old lady in our ward here in Skyline and she is in a care home but she loves the sister missionaries and every time they know of new ones coming in, she's like, "I hope we do not get any Elders"...LOL. She has all of the American Girls dolls and she has the one from Hawaii. The first Sunday she brought her to church and the doll's name is Kanani. I took a pic of me and her when we went over for dinner in her care home. But it's in this SD card. She loves Hawaii so she was happy when she found out there was going to be a sister from Hawaii.
So today is P-Day and Pres. called us to play Lazer Tag. But before we went as a district tot he mall. It was so much fun and I never got anything. And with 3 of us districts we played lazer tag with pres. So Sister Wever should be putting pix on the blog. So today is a holiday so the library was closed today so tomorrow we will be emailing you guys. It's cool all of us are starting to get closer and used to my district with my Elders and Sisters. We are just now being funnier with each other and joke around a lot. So I have a funny pic with one of my Elders. They all are my brothers...hahaha. So I'm going on an exchange for 24 hours. So it's going to be half a day and for the next half. And we have to walk the whole day. It's the day of the month that you walk to save miles. We only get 900 miles for Skyline.
Something funny, the Elders call us and put us in their phone as "skyisland sisters." P-Days go by so fast. Well the week goes by so fast too. I have 2 baptisms up this Saturday...yes yes yes. You know Tacoma is known for their baptisms...WA-TAC. If you ask Brother Potter, he would say he served by Tacoma. The missionaries in Spokane/Seattle all tell everyone they served close to Tacoma because we high on baptisms. So that is so cool that I'm serving in Skyline Tacoma. Now other missions are starting to do CT.
Thank you mommy for teaching me everything to do. Thank you for teaching me how to cook/clean, to change my attitude, wash my clothes, everything you do for me in my life. It's you the one that got me ready for this big part of my life, my mission. I know I have to be here on my mission in Tacoma. I know by giving this small part of my life to the Lord to serve him 24 hr for 18 months is the least I can do for what my Heavenly Father and older brother, Jesus Christ had to do. I love you and miss you. Oh my comp said Hi and I'm sorry that we could not email today.
<3 Always, much Love and Aloha,
your baby missionary Sister Kawehinanioku'uhomekai'inimainalani Aiko Kaohiai Casey
P.S. Can you write out the stories about my name or what my name means in detail. I just know the summary and I get asked it everyday. Thank you <3.
